Pregnancy & Post Natal

Physio-led support through every stage of motherhood.

Pregnancy and the postnatal period bring incredible changes to your body. At Cadence, our experienced physiotherapists provide tailored support to help you stay strong, reduce discomfort, and recover safely.

We start with a comprehensive physiotherapy assessment, looking at pelvic floor function, abdominal separation (diastasis recti), posture, musculoskeletal health, and any pregnancy-related pain. From there, we design a personalised plan to help you:

  • Maintain mobility and strength throughout pregnancy

  • Manage or prevent common issues like pelvic pain, back pain, or abdominal separation

  • Rebuild core and pelvic floor strength after birth (vaginal or caesarean)

  • Return to safe, enjoyable exercise at your own pace

During Pregnancy

It’s a great idea to see a physiotherapist at any stage of pregnancy — even if you’re feeling good. We can help prepare your body for the changes ahead and set you up for a smoother recovery after birth. Many women see us for:

  • Pelvic pain, hip or back discomfort

  • Pelvic floor support and education

  • Concerns about abdominal separation (diastasis recti)

  • Guidance on safe exercise during pregnancy

After Birth

We recommend all new mums book a postnatal physio assessment, ideally from 6 weeks onwards (after medical clearance). This allows us to check:

  • Pelvic floor function and recovery

  • Abdominal separation

  • Posture and musculoskeletal health

  • Bladder or bowel concerns

  • Readiness to return to exercise safely

Even if you feel “fine,” seeing a physio helps you recover well, prevent future issues, and safely return to the exercise you enjoy.

From treatment to movement — where Physio meets Pilates

Once cleared and ready, you can transition into our specialised Cadence Refine program — small group, Physio-led sessions using Pilates equipment to build strength, stability, and confidence. These programs evolve with you, supporting your body through pregnancy and postnatal recovery.

For mums beyond six months postnatal (without complications), you’ll be able to safely move into our Cadence Pilates reformer classes, supported by both physiotherapists and certified Pilates instructors. These classes focus on:

  • Functional strength for everyday life

  • Core activation and posture

  • Joyful, safe, and sustainable exercise
