Rebates & Referrals
-
No doctors referral is required for physiotherapy treatment. Physiotherapists are a primary provider and as a result do not require a doctors referral.
-
A doctor is trained as a medical doctor whilst a physiotherapist specialises in the musculoskeletal facet of medical health.
-
In general, medicare does not cover physiotherapy. We accept all referrals from all doctors but there will still be a gap to pay.
Unless you are referred with an EPC
-
Rebates are available if you have private health cover with extras. Each health provider provides a different rebate depending on the level of cover. You can claim your health rebate directly at the practice through the HICAPS system.
-
Any client with private health cover extras can attend Cadence Physio with only a gap to pay, claimable on the day through the HICAPS system. Cadence Physio is a preferred provider with HCF, NIB and Health Partners.
-
With a doctor’s referral we provide bulk billed physiotherapy through medicare with an Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) referral. There are up to 5 sessions available through this program and you need to ask your General Practitioner (GP) if you may be eligible.

-
Acupuncture is the use of microfilament needles to address pain and dysfunction through the musculoskeletal system. Cadence Physiotherapists are experienced in both acupuncture and dry needling. It helps to aid healing through trigger point release and improved blood flow to aid healing.
